Carthagenastraat 02 – 12

Description

These lean-to houses have been part of a larger property along with Breedestraat 163 – 165 since 1819 when Joannes Josephus Pirovano purchased them. The lot Breedestraat 167 – 169 was added to the property in 1877 by Spanish consul William Henriquez. The small, connected buildings have always served as modest dwellings.

Stichting Monumentenzorg purchased the lean-to houses in 1992 and restored and upgraded them to modern standards. The number of housing units was reduced from six to three.
