Description
Lorenzo de Windt, Shon Lou, bought this plot in 1902. He replaced a derelict building and used the new structure as storage for his hat business. Later, he established a tailor shop here, ‘La Moda de Paris’, which his sons, Eusebio and Ezikito, operated from 1936 onwards. The name is still visible on the façade in embossed lettering. Next door, at Consciëntiesteeg 68, the same embossed letters adorned its façade before it collapsed.
During the economic crisis of the 1930s, Shon Lou was forced to sell the building. However, his grandson, Paul de Windt, managed to repurchase it later on. It is currently still owned by his heirs.
