Description
In 1922, Anne Frederique Joubert purchased the southernmost section of her parent’s estate, known as ‘Kurá di Djodjo Joubert’, the Yard of Djodjo Joubert. On this plot, Anne built a new house with neoclassical features, including a symmetrical façade and a cornice. Her father, Joseph Silvestre (Djodjo) Joubert, was a shoemaker. He was married to Julia Schalk who inherited the yard which included a large two-story mansion and annexes from her sister Ursula, a schoolteacher. Today, Anne Frederique’s house stands as the only remaining historical structure from the former Joubert family estate.
