Bargestraat 57

Description

Constructed around 1902 by Hendrik Evertsz, this mansion served as a residence until 1970. In that year, the Island Territory of Curaçao acquired the property, leasing it to the private foundation “Obra di Man,” which aimed to promote handicrafts to generate income for the less privileged. After the foundation vacated the premises in 2000, the building stood vacant for some time and suffered damage from a severe fire.

In 2003, N.V. Stadsherstel Willemstad purchased the mansion and initiated its restoration. The acquisition and restoration effort reflect N.V. Stadsherstel’s commitment to preserving the local built heritage.
