Van Radersstraat 02 – 04

Description

This 19th-century building has an official entrance on the Koningin Wilhelminastraat, as well as a ground-floor exit onto the wharf on the Punda side. Likely, the entire building was initially erected for storage purposes. By the early 20th century, the English sisters Conn and Mrs. Forbes lived in the building, offering language and etiquette classes. The Curaçao Heritage Foundation bought the building in 1979 but didn’t finish the restoration until 1983, due to financing challenges. In the end, the Dutch government pitched in, and the building was rented by the Sector Culture. After a second restoration in 2004, Kas di Kultura (House of Culture) took residence. Currently, the building is in use as a private school, once again serving an educational purpose.
