Scharlooweg 064 – 66

Description

This house shares a plot with Scharlooweg 68 and Scharlooweg 70. The terrain was originally a part of the plantation Scharloo until Willem Janz Vermeulen bought it in 1729. The original 18th-century building did not survive. Johannes Andries de Haseth had this house built between 1850 and 1862. In 1931 the neighbor, Shon Cai Winkel at Scharlooweg 72-76, becomes the owner, and he decides to rent the building out to Hector Henriquez Baiz and his wife Gladys Salas, whose father lives at Scharlooweg 68. In the early 2000s, a print shop is located on the ground floor. Currently, the building is used as office space and rented out by the Curaçao Monument Foundation.
