Scharlooweg 068

Description

This house shares a plot with Scharlooweg 64-66 and Scharlooweg 70. The terrain was originally a part of the plantation Scharloo until Willem Janz Vermeulen bought it in 1729. The original 18th-century building did not survive. Johannes Andries de Haseth had this house built between 1850 and 1862. In 1931, the neighbor at Scharlooweg 72-76, Shon Cai Winkel, becomes the owner, and he decides to rent the building out to his friend, Arnold Salas, whose daughter lives at Scharlooweg 64-66.  Currently, the building is used as office space and rented out by the Curaçao Monument Foundation.
