Scharlooweg 070

The year of completion is still visible above the front door

Description

This house shares a plot with Scharlooweg 64-66 and Scharlooweg 68. The terrain was originally a part of the plantation Scharloo until Willem Janz Vermeulen bought it in 1729. The original 18th-century building did not survive. Johannes Andries de Haseth had this house built in 1862. In 1931, the neighbor at Scharlooweg 72-76, Shon Cai Winkel, becomes the owner, and he decides to rent the building out to Zilita and Julita Salas.  Currently, the building is used as office space and rented out by the Curaçao Monument Foundation.
